Hey, look, they died... and now they're on a boat? They weren't expecting- wait, why does that island off the starboard bow look vaguely familiar? What was that explosion? Why's the deck rocking? Why is there a large barrel rolling towards them?!
Behold the adventure of someone who wakes up in One Piece, joins Luffy's crew, eats a Devil Fruit by accident, and tries their best to make sure things go better than canon. In that order.
They might not remember their old name, but that's not gonna stop them. Plus, they think the Devil Fruit they ate is hilariously fitting for a pirate crew.

(This is the closest to a re-write as I can get, 'cause I orphaned the original)
They thought it’d be an average summer- go to camp, watch over the kids like good counselors, and then leave.
And mostly, that’s what happened.
Sure, it was a little odd that in the middle of summer, when the full moon was out, they got ordered to remain inside and keep quiet- but after that, everything was normal!
And then the van broke down on the last day of camp, with the next full moon only hours away.

basically I was playing skyrim and entered the abandoned prison and freed Kaidan whilst I was shifted into beast form, and got inspired.
No beta for this one lads, I just wrote it down and am now releasing it unto you.
(No longer a one-shot, but it will take a long time for another chapter to come out because I am deep in the trenches of other interests)

Scar didn’t bother with the food, he just stared Joel down, looking him dead in the eyes. “You need to lay off Jimmy with this toy bullshit.” Joel physically startled, both by the rare curse and the off the wall topic. Of all the things Scar could have been upset about this hadn’t even crossed his mind as a possibility.
“What? Come on Scar, are you serious? It’s not that big of a deal.” That was apparently the wrong thing to say because Scars face only darkened.
“Joel, I’m serious. It’s gone too far. You’ve had your fun, it's time to stop.”
