“Protect me? Up until today I’ve never had shots fired in my direction so it seems like you’ve done the exact opposite of protecting me.” Agatha fired back.
They were in another room now. Rio was crouched down, entering the code to unlock a massive safe. Rio looked back up at her and grabbed Agatha’s hand to pull her down to the ground with her.

"Tell me to stop," Rio whispered, her lips barely brushing Agatha's ear. "Tell me this isn't what you've been wanting since the day I moved in. Tell me all those nights you listened weren't because you wanted to be—"
Agatha surged forward, grabbing Rio's jacket with both hands. For a moment, she wasn't sure if she was going to push her away or pull her closer. The choice crystallized in the space between heartbeats.
"Fuck you," Agatha breathed, and crashed their lips together.
The kiss was violent, all teeth and desperation and months of denied wanting. Rio responded immediately, one hand tangling in Agatha's hair while the other gripped her hip hard enough to bruise. They fell backward, clearing a space among the books and ritual components with little regard for academic preservation.
