When Lucifer and Alastor shake hands for the first time and seal their deal, Alastor is taken by the fact that Lucifer's touch doesn't bother him and is maybe even welcome. Lucifer on the other hand simply wants to be himself and notices how easy that is around someone who he doesn't care likes him or not. But none of their notions remain the same when it begins to become clear that it is harder to stay away from one another than either had thought.

It is so easy to see the humanity in Alastor when they’re alone like this. With his personality and looks. He is genuinely handsome, smile lines around his mouth that reveal his age and deerish features that look so soft and delicate when his face isn’t pulled into an extraordinarily extravagant smile. He opens his mouth. He doesn’t get anything out beyond,
“I-” It’s all it takes for Alastor to crack an eye open and look down at him. Lucifer wonders what he sees. A pathetic, watery-eyed, fallen angel looking at a mortal sinner like he hung the moon in the sky. What a joke. Lucifer grimaces and looks away. Story of his life. Nothing but a big joke.
