Once upon a time humans and monsters went to war. The monster race lost and was banished underground for their transgression. On the surface, humans forgot the war they fought, reducing the battle to a mere fairytale.
Fifty years ago a human fell into the underground. He was adopted into the royal family, but then tragedy struck and the king and queen lost both of their children.
Frisk was ten when he fell into the underground. It’s been five years since he’s been declared missing. Five years ago, monsters were released from the underground, and they settled in nicely, forming towns and living peacefully among humans.
You arrived in Ebott four years ago, but you just remembered why you're in the city. A child is missing, the supposed liberator of monsters. You don’t know much, but what you leave you confused with more questions than answers. However, not all is as it seems. Something lurks in the cracks of the world. A child, his ghost, and a monster formed from his own hubris.
You learned to ignore the things that come from the gaps, the gray creatures, the doors that lead to an endless void, and the voices. But to get answers, you'd have to enter into a world that you pretend doesn't exist.

But years without a place to truly call home would leave anyone a little stir-crazy. So when you find a knife-wielding skeleton in the woods on your morning jog, you go against your better judgement and heal him. At least he’s nice enough to pay you back with outings that are starting to feel a whole lot like dates.
Too bad that skeleton is actually one of the enemies you’re supposed to be fighting against, and your existence is about to become not-so-secret to his boss.
