Summary
Fifteen years ago three teens from the Southern Water Tribe found a boy in an iceberg.
Two years ago, the “Last Southern Waterbender” was murdered in her home.
Five minutes ago a teen started shouting at the Southern Air Temple where a lonely monk has been hiding.
In which Kya, Hakoda, and Bato found the Last Airbender years ago. And Aang never had a reason to reveal he was the Avatar until he lost his best friend.
In which an angry thirteen year old prince desperately needs a guardian and Aang desperately needs to be needed.

He did not remove Sozin’s family from power, despite the corruption. He watched them carefully. He had a solid grasp of all of the elements before even meeting his teachers. Aang was dedicated to peace and the sanctity of life. There was just one eccentricity that gave people pause…

He’s nine again– nine and new and knows so many things now so rather than try to go back–
He thinks he has the chance to make things right.
The bright blue trainers he puts on are a pair he hasn’t worn in forever, something he never thought about after he grew out of them (will grow out of?) a year from now, and sets off into the night and into the rain.
The plan he has in his brain is not really a plan, moreso just a couple of half thrown ideas and maybe five steps into building back the life he had in the most painless way he could.
Maybe, he thinks, maybe this plan can start off with the family he misses– because he’s sixty and most of them too injured or too old or too dead–
Call him selfish but he misses them. He would rather find them than get himself back into that lonely existence he called a life before he woke up at nine.
Dick makes do because that’s all he can do really.

A time travel fic where things aren’t perfect or overly angsty, but all ends well. I enjoyed the way the whole thing was handled and I adored the role of Catherine and how she and Bruce essentially co-parent platonically. I also like that Bruce has figured out more than he says but doesn’t view it as something to confront. (Trying to balance what I like without too much spoiling if people are looking at my bookmarks.)

I look this one often enough to bookmark it. I really like it and am curious about the new world. It’s also one of the few that I’m just happy for Tim to stay in without interference from the previous dimension. (Though I welcome the storyline if it ever comes.)
