    Bookmarker's Notes

There is a certain kind of tender thoroughness in which "Die Marelin" is being written, such lovingly crafted sequences of dialogue and nonverbal communication, varying amounts of warmth, anxiety, and growth between Elster and Ariane that the reader can completely empathize with. DearAgonist treats both characters with a degree of respect that, when the more morose moments arrive, the bond between the two keeps their relationship afloat (both literally and figuratively) in that great void of space. Regardless if there are fewer chapters left, I will willingly consume whatever is written next, be it heartbreak or otherwise.

    Summary

A (somewhat) grounded interpretation of what might have happened after the Artifact/Lily ending. An ongoing story of travel and adventure mostly told through Ariane's perspective. Expect liberal introspection, ruminating, consensual hand-holding, and probably some creative liberties with the lore. Spoilers for the game. Very occasional NSFW sexual content. Bookmarker's Notes

This was first fic I read after wrapping up Signalis' "artifact" ending, and--wow!--was I fortunate that I did. This story is simultaneously a well-needed deep dive on the two main characters of Signalis (Elster and Ariane) and a fascinating divergence from the game itself that respects the original work. I am happy to see TH&HK receive such praise, for as a fanfiction and a piece of fiction, all of it is wholly deserved.
