“Where were you?” she whispers, watching the corner of his mouth tense. “The day of Black Sun. Where were you?”
His shoulders raise. “Where were you?”
“You know where,” she says, refusing to let him distract her. “Don’t change the subject.”
He flexes his fingers into the dirt, then lifts his hands to his lap, pulling his legs underneath of himself. She only ever sees him sit this way when it is something important.
“You don’t know anything about me, Katara,” he says, his eyes closed.
“Why do you think I’m asking?”
