Summary
The first thing he notices when he wakes up is that he is not, in fact, drowning to death in the ocean of Shido’s cognitive world. The grass he’s laying in is a bit damp with dewdrops, but that’s about as close as he's coming to that vast, rolling water he’d seen below him before.
He lays there unmoving for a moment, as feeling comes back to all of his limbs. His head is throbbing, his ears and ringing, and his whole body aches as he sits up. Groggily, and a bit confused, he takes in his surroundings.
He’s on the grass in front of the Diet building. Everything seems normal, so this must be reality. He made it out of Shido’s palace. At least, he thinks so. It’s also possible he died and is in heaven or something - though if this is what heaven’s like then he’s got a bone to pick with whoever’s in charge, because this sucks.
He staggers to his feet, brushing himself off as best he can. Man, he feels like he just got hit by a truck. His limbs are heavy; all he wants is to lay down in his own bed and sleep for a year. More important than that, though - where is everyone else?

Ryuji saves his team from a watery grave in Shido's Palace, and gets a proper welcome back.

Besides Minion, Megamind could only ever implicitly trust Roxanne, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing that she had been inadvertently shot with the Infusion Gun? It may take time and training before she warms up to the idea of being the hero Metro City deserves. Canon divergent story where Roxanne now wields the power of the late Metro Man. Rated T for later chapters.
