Summary
A young cadet named Raw, sponsored by the house of Mitth, arrives at the Chiss Defense Fleet Academy. He finds it is neither as easy, nor as difficult, as he'd anticipated.
First, there's a cadet who just won't shut up. And won't go away. Then, there's the matter of his drill officer, who hates him the moment he lays eyes on him. And, the other cadets who don't like him much, either....
But there is one cadet who might make life tolerable over the next months and years. A young First Caste scion who reminds him of Ras. If he could make a friend, he just might make it through the rest.
Trouble is, Raw has never been good at making friends.
