Napoléon threw the blanket aside at the sound of boots against the hardwood floor, and before he thought to look up, he grabbed the pistol off the bedside table, cocked it, and stood out of the bed. He pointed the gun toward the doors, toward the dark figure dripping onto the Persian rug as he moved further into the room. It took only a fraction of a second for him to realize who it was. He recognized his shape, his gait. He stopped and looked up, those brown eyes of his meeting Napoléon’s from beneath the hood.
“Thought we were past this, Bonny,” Arno said, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“And I thought I told you not to call me that."

“Astarion?” The voice is deep and soft, familiar in its warmth. Astarion’s head tilts towards the sound of it, slowly making out the features of a kind face, chestnut hair brushing over broad shoulders.
Astarion’s jaw works, his tongue pressing at the back of his teeth, his entire head aching. “Halsin?” He croaks, the melodic lilt of his voice sounding like the scratch of a sickly beast. His throat feels as if he had swallowed glass, and then he had been kicked in the esophagus for good measure.
(Or, Astarion grows sick. Halsin takes care of him.)
