What would a marriage proposal between these two look like? If I had my way, it would be just like this. [BEGIN RANT] I strongly believe that if given the chance, Eliza and William could would have made for a blissfully married couple. William grew over the 4 seasons; Eliza seems to finally be growing in the 5th. To those who say they wouldn't have worked out because William is too traditional; ACTUALLY, his ideas are more 1950s, not 1880s/90s. I won't bore you with the details but I once wrote a historiography of the conservative right, 1930s-1980s. But I digress. I believe that William would have come to terms with hiring a nanny and maid if it meant being with and supporting Eliza. (Ahem...Look at Claire and Jaime in Outlander. Yes, Claire's skills are much needed in Jamie's "line of work," but so are Eliza's for William's.) Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. [END RANT]
(This fic takes place about a few weeks after Miss Scarlet and the Duke, Season 4, Episode 3, "Origins." (See my fix-it of Season 4, Episode 4, "Eliza's Vigil," Part 1 of this collection.) This is a fix-it, because there's no doubt in my mind that Eliza and William were meant to be together.)

Summary
I can't believe we were tortured with "will they or won't they" for four seasons only for the Duke to leave! I mean--I wanted to ask Rachael New, respectfully, "Who hurt you?" Anyway, I fixed it. Hopefully time will allow for this to be the first of many "fix-its" of MSATD. In this one, I also added a little more to the story. For example, an account of what exactly happened during the raid in 4x2 "Six Feet Under" and what transpired during William's time in a coma (4x3 "Origins"). And rest assured, mutual love is declared, as it should have been! Update: I had more ideas pop into my head to continue this story so I changed it to WIP. Suggestions and feedback always welcome!

Summary
This is a continuation after my first piece "Killing the Angels." I recommend reading that first then returning to this one as I introduce new characters and events.
Private Detective Eliza Scarlet and Detective Inspector William Wellington are entering a new stage of their relationship when something unexpected happens and a person from their past re-appears, forcing them to fight for their lives. Old friends and new assist as known and unknown forces continue to threaten them. When the worst happens, Eliza must accept the inevitable and face her fears to find happiness.
