Summary
Draco Malfoy is fairly content with his life at Thirty. He has a job that enables him to sneer at Harry Potter regularly; he has enough money that he doesn't actually need the job; he even has regular front row seats to the delightful sight of Hermione Granger terrorising the grizzled Department Head of the DMLE.
Unfortunately, he also has the worlds most meddling mother- and she has her sights set on seeing him wed and bed at the earliest oportunity.

Pansy Parkinson is a good Pureblood girl. She is. She's put too much effort into it to not be.
But good Pureblood girls don't spend the entire Yule Ball watching a pretty girl in a periwinkle dress smile at an international Quidditch star and burn with envy.
Not of the girl, to be clear; that would have been understandable – acceptable even. The problem was that Pansy didn’t want to be in her shoes, with the meaty hands of Viktor Krum lifting her in the opening waltz.
Pansy’s fourteen year old soul felt true envy for the first time that night because she wanted to be in entirely the wrong shoes. She watched Hermione Granger giggle as she was spun, and wished that it was her hands doing the spinning.

Dingy, but not filthy. Stifling, but not suffocating. Meagre, but not barren. Callous, but not cruel. Depressing, but not nightmarish.
