After losing his family to the GIW's cruelty, Danny just wants to lay low and focus on himself. Yet he wakes up to find the world to be very different from what he remembers. Everyone in his town are now adults and Vlad is actually trying to help him. What was this he was hearing about some avengers?! Who were they avenging? Why did they split up? And how did the Captain America come back from the dead and manage to become a criminal?
Or; Danny loses his family, gets captured, becomes king of the dead, kicks ass, moves to New York, and regrets life.

Ryan’s breath hitched. He hesitated for a moment, then blinked one eye open. Spotted a familiar shape amongst the flames and opened the other too.

While investigating a location on his own, Ryan ends up in the hands of a cult and is supposed to be sacrificed to a demon. As it turns out, the demon in question had called in sick two days prior, to tell Ryan he'd have to go ghost haunting alone. "Important family obligation" his ass.
