Unlike his interactions with the others, Shepard’s time with Garrus lacked an agenda. He lingered, his presence steady and grounding, not asking for anything, just there. Garrus noticed the pattern, the way Shepard seemed drawn to his company. Though Garrus teased him about it, he couldn’t deny that he didn’t mind. If anything, he found himself looking forward to Shepard’s visits, even as he wondered what they meant.
Because when it came to Garrus, Shepard always lingered—and that meant more than either of them was ready to admit yet.

When the rumors first started to circulate about the government making plans to create a new military force specializing in hunting down the Decepticons that had escaped the battle of Chicago, Sam had thought it was kind of an overkill considering that was what the NEST program was for, but he hadn't really paid that much attention to it.
Bumblebee, who had insisted rather fervently on staying by Sam's side until things calmed down and got back to normal, hadn't been particularly worried about it either.
That was why, when all things went to hell in a basket, neither of them had been prepared for it.
To survive the threat that is Cemetery Wind, Sam and Bumblebee are forced to separate. Neither of them handles it well.
