Summary
“Listen,” Steve raises both hands to still him like he’s some sort of feral animal, “I have a friend, okay? And this friend likes someone of the same gender. And can’t take that someone to prom because… well…” he trails off and looks at Eddie helplessly.
Oh. That… was unexpected. “Because this is Indiana and it’s backwards as hell?”
Or: Steve Harrington asks Eddie Munson to prom

Summary
Eddie falls asleep in the back of the RV. Steve watches it happen in stages, after the stop at The War Zone—driving a little further out for a food shop, away from prying eyes.
He announces that the coast is clear when the roads become reassuringly empty. For the first time in days, he relaxes into the rhythm of driving: he’s triple-checked that no-one’s tailing them, and if it weren’t for the hastily bought weapons, he could almost pretend that…

If Steve had a nickel for every time a kid tried to steal a fossil from the museum, he would be going home with several bags of nickels each day.
He affectionately refers to those kids as the “Eddies.”

Summary
Men like him didn’t deserve grief. He didn’t even know the word until he was older, and he knew less what it meant. But it made sense when the word found his ears as he lingered in the doorway of the shitty dilapidated house that he had grown to accept. He only ever found it within himself to fight back when Eddie was gone. He only yelled when it mattered to Eddie, only cried when he anticipated the breakage of Eddie’s heart. He’d never had the energy to fight until he was this disaster of a human, and that fight in him was rage, and that rage was grief.

Summary
Steve couldn’t help but be haunted by the last time he did this, his vision flickering between the real world and flashes of blue. Eddie’s eyes were open then as they were now, they were dead and dark, just like now. But in the Upside-Down, back when Eddie’s blood was still red, he was desperate. Dustin was crying, and Nancy was yelling at them that the gates were starting to close. Last time, Steve had to give up, had to take his hands off Eddie’s chest that he’d already cracked. Eddie was already gone, and the rest of them had to go, too.
Now, he was determined. Eddie’s eyes were open and instead of gazing unseeingly up at the moonless, starless sky, they were locked with his. Steve was caught in the beam of his gaze like he was hypnotized, and it was Eddie’s command that compelled his arms to keep pumping, to keep his fingers and wrists locked, and his body wasn’t his to control. It was easy. To breathe, to push rhythmically against Eddie’s broken sternum, to ignore the strain in his shoulders. He was going to be the reason Eddie’s heart would beat again. And it felt good.
Or, Eddie comes back as a zombie. A story about souls and bodies and love and eating flesh :)Bookmarked by Droolovacoco
