Summary
Just after Henry flees Texas, Alex gets a phone call from an unrecognized number and - innocently, irrevocably - answers it.
Weeks later, Henry is informed by his grandfather that a royal prince’s attendance at President Ellen Claremont’s Election Night party is a necessary gesture to maintain the special relationship of the USA and the UK.
Henry agrees, of course. He certainly can’t explain that he hasn’t spoken to Alex since leaving Texas, much less that he still thinks of Alex every single day. He vows to smile, shake the hand of the President and immediately board a plane back to England.
And if he runs into Alex? Small talk, he decides. Polite small talk about simple facts. They’re adults. They’ll manage.
It’s markedly harder to put this plan into action when he finds Alex in the bathroom with another man.
