Set in part 1 of Iron Flame, Rhiannon POV.
Second year is not going the way Rhiannon expected at all. Her best friend has been off all term, pulling away from the squad, evading simple questions, running with Imogen, plastering on that fake smile, and hiding out every free moment she has…at least when she isn’t away at Samara.
Violet finally started opening up a little bit when they were all off for RSC interrogation practice last week, but that was before Major Varrish tried to torture her to death?!
Now the squad is in Battle Brief, where Markham has just tried to convince them the flyers about the fall of Zolya, of all places, were a test of their ability to spot propaganda; then he reveals that Jack fucking Barlowe is alive?!? And now Violet is running out of the Battle Brief room because Samara was attacked last night.
Rhiannon has had enough of this week.
