Summary
Shortly after the American Revolutionary War, England is miserable. So miserable, in fact, that one of his fairies decides to take matters into her own hands. Desperate to help relieve England from the pain he feels, she casts a spell meant to bring him to "his happiest state of mind" - unfortunately the fairy in question is very young and the spell's intention gets distorted.
Instead of the spell providing a brief moment of respite, England is thrust into the modern era, forcibly switching places with his future self, who is in turn sent back in time to one of the worst points in his life.
(In short: A newly grieving and brokenhearted post-Revolutionary War!England is sent forward in time to a point when his future self has a loving and stable relationship with America. As a result of this, the happy and contented modern!England is thrust backwards to the one of the worst points in his life.)
