He looked at his guest once more. She looked just like her. Her face was nearly identical to the girl that he loved so long ago. Her pointed nose, her high but delicate cheekbones, her beautiful blond hair that curled and her eyes that were stormy but also welcoming. She was beautiful, the most beautiful girl that he had ever seen.
He was sure that’s what clouded his judgment. Memories of the girl he once loved and broken promises caused him to say, “Perseus. My name is Perseus.”
And that was his first mistake.
Perseus has been stuck on his island for eternity watching as heroines come and go leaving him by himself. When a girl lands on his island that looks identical to his past lover he promises he wouldn't get attached. After all she would leave him just like all the others.

The rose she had given her would bloom until her twenty-first birthday. If she could find someone to love and for them to love her in return, the spell would be broken. If not she would be doomed to be a beast forever. As the years passed, she fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a beast?

Percy’s words kept ringing in Annabeth’s ears, “I choose the prophecy.”
She had known the lines of the Great Prophecy for years, and when she first met Percy, she suspected it was about him. When he was claimed by Posideon, it only confirmed it. She knew it meant that he was going to die on his sixteenth birthday. But she put off thinking about it, hidden in the recesses of her mind, the more pressing matters of stolen lightning bolts, golden fleeces, and holding the sky taking up her attention.
But it fully hit her then.
