Summary
Everyone remembers where they were when Shinra announced they had gotten past the Northern West current. The powerful current that has separated the Continents from the other half of the world. Most people believed it to be a fool's quest. No one had gotten past the current in recorded history since the ancient eras. Whether in your home or at a bar or sleeping and ended up waking to the news; everyone remembered.
Compiled here is a series of first-hand accounts from both sides of the conflict between the two sides of the world and the ensuing fall of Shinra to create a personal story, and a more clear understanding of the events known as First Contact and the ensuing war from the very people who lived it.

Cloud Strife fucking hated Lucis. He wants to go home, wants to go back to a place where he's treated like the adult he is. He's fifteen for fenrir's sake. He's been in the military for a year and a half, but no. Now he's stuck with this asshole named Nyx because he bit him. At least the air was nice.

Summary
Prompto always felt like he was the odd one out. Not only was he not Insomnia-born, but he was also human in a world full of supernatural beings. It only got harder once he befriended Noctis: the Lucian vampire prince. Surprisingly, despite being the only human amongst Noctis’s friend group, Noctis liked the taste of his blood best.
Prompto always wondered why, but then one night, Prompto learns something about himself that helps answer everything.

Summary
Ignis pulls a whistling kettle off of the stove. Noctis twitches at his side, a threadbare sock tickling his thigh under a heavy knit blanket. Gladio must be nearby, too; Prompto can hear the deep rumble of his voice, sending a shiver down his spine unbidden.
Maybe there’s no one here at all.
He’s lying still enough to be dead, he thinks.
At least he can hardly feel the cold anymore.Prompto can take care of himself. He's mastered the art of it in the years he's spent on his own, carefully weaving a delicate veil of explanations for the Prince and his entourage.
He can juggle his classes, his work, the endless piles of bills in the entryway. He can get by on the meager scraps left for groceries when rent is due.
At least until a frozen pipe and an ever observant advisor make it impossible to keep up the farce.

Summary
The look Ignis graced him with was far too close to pitying. He set a hand on Noctis’ shoulder and squeezed gently before withdrawing it. “I rather wish he’d come to me if he felt the need to vent his feelings, but I suppose a chocobo would lend a decent ear, if one were so inclined.”
What. “I’m sorry...feelings?”
Ignis blinked at him, the steel in his eyes edging towards unimpressed now. “Is that not why you’ve been so attentive toward him lately?”

When Noctis overhears Prompto spilling secrets to his chocobo, it gives him a lot to consider, and really has him analyzing his own feelings for his best friend. Spoiler alert: he's probably just always been smitten.Bookmarked by Absconded

Summary
Ok, Cloud admitted to himself, when the Planet, or fate, or maybe even Aerith, sent him back here this was probably not what they had in mind.
But then, maybe that's what made it so much fun.
