Jim is, in a word, worried. He changed into his dress uniform as soon as he heard they were invited to Spock’s wedding—though what manner of wedding can it be, to a woman he hasn’t seen since childhood? Is Spock hiding away out of reluctance? Bones says that he must go through with this mating for fear of death, and yet Jim cannot help but think that—for Spock, who values duty and science above all things—fear of death may not be a sufficient motivator.

Summary
The thing Kirk hates most is losing control; and the thing he’d last want to lose control over is his body. Except that is what happens as the rooms get hotter and the desires he’d long suppressed swim up to the surface of his consciousness. It takes him weeks to connect the dots and to find the perpetrator. He shouldn’t be - and isn’t - surprised it is Mr. Spock.
