Instead of killing L, Light decided to keep him around. As a trophy, of sorts, a reminder of what he's achieved. But L's intelligence poses a problem; even if he kept him tied up all the time, Light's done underestimating him, and he's sure that he'd find a way to get himself free. He keeps him drugged instead. Sure, their conversations are less intellectually stimulating now, but Light doesn't need good conversation when the world recognizes him as their god. Everything's ended up working out wonderfully.

Culture shock was a bitch, huh?
Or, 5 times Midoriya Seiko wasn't ready for what life in UA (or Hokkaido) entailed and 1 time that the whole class was caught off guard.
