Summary
Sam’s blood hounds bayed behind him, not too far off, and most likely still on his trail, the way he was still carelessly barreling through the forest. No doubt he was leaving a trail of smashed underbrush and trampled sticks, not to mention his sticky side from a wound that had reopened in the exertion, leaving droplets in his wake as it soaked through his clothes.
Dream paused, even if only for a moment, to take a deep breath and steady his heart. He was best at thinking on his feet. His mind was still his, and no one else’s. He could still easily dance his way out of Sam’s grasp and spin circles around him, if he only stopped to think.
