Summary
The first time that Sokka sees his childhood nemesis after ten years of blissful separation, he makes out with him in front of his homophobic family. Zuko's proposal- that they fake a relationship for a summer of public events on Sokka's home island to mess with his father and grandfather- is absolutely ludicrous, and it definitely won't work. Not only is Sokka straight, but he and Zuko have hated each other for as long as he can remember.
Then Sokka realizes he can use it to his own advantage as well. It's just for the summer, right?

Summary
Aang woke up in an entire new age, on a comletely different land mass. Nothing made sense, and he couldn't understand anyone around him.
Katara and Sokka didn't think that they would find the Avatar on a simple fishing trip, but maybe it was just the break they needed... if only they could understand anything he was saying.
Zuko had never actually expected to find the Avatar, but his discovery might just be what they need to gain an edge in the war. He only wished that it wasn't so hard to convince everyone that he wasn't evil.

The phone rings exactly three times before there’s the sound of ruffling of bedsheets and the soft groaned cursing of an unknown voice, urging a baby to come back to bed.
Maybe she has the wrong number and this is stupid and of course he’d not keep the same number, she’s so stupid-
“Azula?” Zuko’s gruff voice ask, worried and sleepy and confused and allowing her to take a deep relieved breath as her hands grip the paper in her hands in the dark of Father’s office.
“She’s not dead, Zuzu.”(or the Modern AU where Azula runs away from her abusive father, Zuko is a good brother and Sokka is trying to cope with this sudden ‘Find Mom’ road trip his boyfriend and his boyfriend’s baby sister are getting into).

Ozai watched in deep thought as the Fire Sages lit the empty funeral pyre. All around him people stood in silence, some wiping away tears, others whispering blessings along with the sage.
He knew Azula, for all her sobbing and displays, was fighting a grin -he certainly was. After all those years, everything was falling into place. The throne was his, Azula was his heir, and in four years the Fire Nation would be victorious.
Unfortunately, Zuko had other plans.
OR; Zuko survives an assassination attempt, finds out War Is Bad, adopts a dragon, loops his crew into a life of piracy, convinces Mai to commit high treason, becomes Zhao's biggest nightmare, forms a begrudging alliance with the chief of the Southern Water tribe, and falls in love.

Summary
Sokka has been an unfortunate victim to many uncomfortable realizations in his life.
When he was sixteen it went like this. The deranged, reckless, fire-breathing prince that chased them across half the world was, as little as Sokka wanted to admit it at the time, actually kind of cool. Now, he’s twenty one, sparring across from that same prince– now a king– in a small courtyard at the heart of the Fire Nation, and he realizes that not only is the Fire Lord actually kind of cool, he’s also really pretty.

After the war, Sokka goes to the Southern Water Tribe to help his people rebuild. Five years later, he accepts the role of ambassador to the Fire Nation and returns to a city and a man that are almost unrecognizable.

Apparently yes, as his second in command drags in a net containing one half drowned fire prince with a severe brain injury. He can't justify tossing him back like the crew wants, so he will just keep him prisoner until they make it to port and then he's the Earth Kingdom's problem.
(Does it count as imprisonment if he's allowed to run around the ship as he pleases?)Hakoda and the crew slowly adopt a brain damaged fire prince. Just another day at sea.

“Can’t,” Zuko grunted out, just as Katara pushed the cold compress closer. “Father says that if – if it’s my fault, I have to fix it myself. Asking for handouts after a tantrum is dishonorable.”
He’d said as much before, when the worst thing he’d shown up with was enough cuts on his knees to border the wrong edge of questionable. Sokka had never thought twice about the explanation. He knew that Toph’s parents had cut her off from time to time. Rich kid problems at their finest.
This time, though, Sokka took a good, hard look at the burns on Zuko’s arm. And he did something he’d never done before: he asked follow-up questions.
“How’d you get that burn, Zuko?”
Or, Zuko's made a habit of texting Sokka when he needs to be patched up. But when said patching up only ever happens in the middle of the night when his dads aren't home, there's only so much Sokka is willing to not question for the sake of someone he doesn't even know that well.

Apologies are just empty words when they aren't sincere.
AU where Ursa decides Ozai can't be trusted to uphold his end of the deal and after she kills off Azulon, she takes her children and makes a run for it. They were supposed to escape to the Earth Kingdom, but well, Ursa doesn't really know anything about navigating the open seas, so they end up half drowned in the Southern Water Tribe a few days after the last Fire Nation raid that claimed Kya's life. The tribe saves them, finds out who they are, decides they can stay, and some scant days later this unfolds.
6.30.24: On hiatus. I believe it ends at a good stopping point though if you're still curious enough to read.

Was this also the first time they kissed? No. Of course not. They've shared other kisses in their teenage years. Like the kiss under the stars when they went camping with Hakoda and Katara when they were fourteen. Or when Sokka pulled Zuko aside after a hockey game to kiss him since his team won back in the year ten. Oh, and the time that Toph dared them to kiss. That was just last month.
Now at sixteen, they decided to try doing it for longer than seven seconds. Which, best idea ever. Scratch what he said about it being a bad idea. This was amazing and he wanted more.
But the universe hates him. Because just as Zuko went to pull his shirt off, the door to his room swung open.

For Firelord Zuko and Ambassador Sokka, the war has ended and they spend their days now, four years after peace has flourished across the land, putting down cells of Ozai's sympathizers and forging their relationship behind closed doors. When the Gaang takes up a mission to squash the very last of Ozai's supporters, Zuko and Sokka are caught in a collapsing tunnel and buried alive. Seemingly escaping the kiss of death, they wake to a world that is not their own.
At the behest of spirit dabbling, both Sokka and Zuko are thrown into an alternate reality that mirrors their own. Sixteen again, they face the massive jarring changes of what could have been their lives had the war gone differently. Aang never woke up from the iceberg. The Southern Waterbenders were never targeted and the Southern Tribe is a close twin to the North's elitist personality. Iroh never lost Lu Ten to the siege of Ba Sing Se and the strangest change of all, Ozai is a loving parent to his beloved son.
Together, Sokka and Zuko need to find a way back to their own world and bodies, and figure out what the spirits intended for them in this strange dreamlike world.
