He started walking right up to her and Rose realised with every step she wasn't prepared as well as she'd thought. He was huge up close. Not only taller but much bulkier than she remembered. He was so close his body was nearly touching the lasers, and she started to wonder what would happen if he did touch them.
“George Harkness?“ She finally broke what felt like a minute long silence.

Summary
After being locked in solitary confinement for almost a decade, a Bulgarian metahuman is offered a place in the last team she'd want to be on - Task Force X, or better known in the Belle Reve Correctional Facility as the Suicide Squad. She is tasked with one mission for her dedication - destroy Project Starro and all information eluding to it in Corto Maltese.
Hoping to use the opportunity to reunite again with her boyfriend George Harkness, she later finds out what she's really agreed to do, and what lengths she has to go to follow orders.

Sooooo, if anyone remembers the less than fantastic story I wrote a few years ago called Firefly, this is the redoing and reimagining of that. The original is still up, though it sucks so I don't recommend reading it.
Mina Larson is just trying to serve her time at Belle Reeve like everyone else when she is unwillingly thrust into a life of chaos and calamity. In a world where only titles separate good from evil, and being a bad guy doesn't always mean you're a monster, will she be able to save the world, along with her rag tag band of misfits, and possibly find love and redemption along the way?

This is my interpretation of Suicide Squad with a few tweaks and differences including the addition of a slow burn between my OC and the marvelous Captain Boomerang, A.K.A George "Digger" Harkness.
