Summary
Wei Ying is investigating a sudden illness sweeping through the merchants in Yunmeng that he fears is more than an illness. Seeing no signs of a curse or darkness of any kind he makes a horrifying discovery right before the Clan Hunting Competition, he is getting sick. Doing everything he can to stay away from his siblings so they do not catch the illness he rushes to his Uncle to beg to stay back and recover while they go to the competition without him.
The problem is Madam Yu finding out he is trying to skip the competition and not only making him go while sick but punishing him for 'faking' being ill to tarnish their name.
Somehow words become much easier to say with a raging fever and Wei Ying always liked to talk.. Lan Zhan for his part listens.

Wei Wuxian settled Lil Apple in the stables and went to watch Jiang Sect sword practice. Before he even got close to the Sword Testing Hall and main courtyard, he could hear Jiang Cheng barking out instructions.“Lift up your arm! Squat lower for a better horse stance! How can you call your base stable with that form?!”
Wei Wuxian smiled and lept onto a banister, perching and watching.
Jiang Cheng seemed to have matured in the last two years since their altercation in the Jiang Sect ancestral hall. He held himself with less tension and his instructions were more precise. Instead of hitting the disciples as Wei Wuxian remembered him doing in the past, Jiang Cheng guided their arms and adjusted their legs in place. He could see some of Uncle Jiang’s kindness in the current sect leader.
