Summary
Astarion knows what it’s like to be free - or, at least he can remember when that was the case. He was a conqueror of the seas, an apex predator; now he’s little more than an exotic pet, put on display for Cazador Szarr’s esteemed guests to gawk at. He’s almost resigned himself to his fate when one of the esteemed guests isn’t quite like the others. Wyll Ravengard is the son of the Grand Duke; after a lifetime of living in his father’s shadow, he is finally finding his own path.
When an invitation arrives for a charity ball, Wyll finds himself thrust into a world littered with political deals gone sour, bribes, and the most beautiful creature - no, the most beautiful man - he’s ever seen. However, things aren't always what they seem, and it isn't long before Wyll has questions about Cazador's intentions - as well as the truth about the mysterious Star. -

I cried out, terror gripping me as he started to stroke the dirt from my curls.
He seemed almost serene. “This time you’re coming home with me and staying forever.” He gripped my chin and forced me to look at him. Tears streaming down my face made muddy tracks down my chest and the knees I found I was clutching. He smirked, a real sweetness sneaking through. He whispered, “You’re so beautiful when you’re frightened.” He traced my shaking lips with his thumb. I sobbed as his final whisper resonated somewhere within me: “You’re mine.”

No one bats an eye when a spawn is mistreated or abused, and those without masters have succumbed to the desires of those above.
The Dark Urge has lived in the shadows, now a stranger to his own mind with nothing but the blood of his wounds as a statement to his past. He knows only the voices within, and that upon meeting Astarion that whoever he once was- it doesn’t matter now.

This is the rise of the Vampire Ascendant.
“You needn’t lower yourself as you did last night...You don’t have to allow the peasantry to touch you.” His eyes lowered to their joined hands again, his hold on her was as though she were made of fine glass. A treasure to be protected. “You were wonderful, last night.” His voice was nearly a whisper, and he seemed to have retreated back into his thoughts once again.
“The adoring eyes and full attention of the public suits you, my dear. I’m not so bold as to take you from your rightful place…”
“But your place… is so far above them. You are the moon, my sweet. Your place is on high, to be adored and worshiped,”
A follow up to how I see the Ascended Astarion post-game happening. It's a slower burn, inspired by Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.

Firinne rested quietly against Wyll for a moment, replaying the vision over and over in her mind. “What do you think bearer of moonlight means?”
He looked down at her tenderly. “Well, you are beautiful when you glow.”
“All Paladins glow. I am nothing special.”
“That is most assuredly not true,” he said, slowly nuzzling her cheek with his nose. “You are the most incredible person I have ever met. You are radiant, kind, courageous, and steadfast. All the stars in the sky pale in comparison to your beauty. You are the laughter in my heart and the light in my soul. Thoughts of you consume every moment. I am humbled that I get to share a life with you.”
Her pulse quickened and she whimpered as she moved her lips towards his. “There you go with your poetry again,” she said in a low voice.
He smiled as his lips gently brushed against hers. “You wish me to stop being poetic?”
“Never,” she whispered.

In trading his friends, his love, and supposedly his soul for the freedom he was so long denied, Astarion finds that the consequences of his actions are too vast to handle. Naturally, he begins a mostly one-sided rivalry with Wyll, determined to outlive the damned hero and win at last. He resorts to sleeping through the remainder of Wyll's life - but the time after proves to be a harder battle than when Wyll still lived. How ever will he manage eternity?
