Summary
After 100 Years of absence, the Avatar has returned.
Sokka, whose only interaction with spirits was cursing the one that gave him Firebending, is suddenly thrust into the middle of a Spirit Tale. The journey to the Northern Water Tribe is surely to be treacherous, but he gave his word to protect his family. Even with creepy Fire Nation troops, his sister and friend's terrible impulse control, and all manner of obstacles in the way, nothing will get in the way of that promise.
Zuko, officially Colonel Kuzon, has been on the frontline for the past three years. Finally given a chance to fully restore his honor as a Prince of the Fire Nation, he takes after the pursuit of the Avatar with fervor. However, clashes with his superior and his own doubt cause frequent clashes within the Waterbenders head. His honor on the line, he tries to live up to what a true son of the Fire Nation is.
In a world at war, can either of them hold true to their word?

Summary
Prince Zuko has been dead for two years.
Lieutenant Jee could care less. The intricacies of the Court mean nothing to him when cruelty runs through every royal vein. It makes no difference who’s on the Dragon Throne when they’re all just as likely to kill their own children as swiftly as they’d send new recruits to their deaths. All Lieutenant Jee cares about is keeping his crew alive.
Then he rescues a young soldier from drowning. A boy whose eyes are as bright and gold as Agni’s light:
A dragon child.

Summary
After 5 years of leading the 41st division on the front lines, Zuko’s father has found a new use for him: as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the Southern Water Tribe. Zuko has no idea what to expect from this arrangement, but if the treaty can stop even one Fire Nation citizen from being killed, he’s willing to play his part.
Hakoda never wanted to bring an ashmaker into his home, but he knows his duty is to his tribe, even before his children or husband. He only hopes the prince will share his sense of duty and be willing to make the arrangement work. He never could have planned for Zuko.
Bato had his doubts, and Hakoda asking him at the last minute to change the wedding into a clan adoption didn’t put his mind at ease. But Zuko and his friends aren't the invaders Bato privately feared. As they settle in and learn the ways of the Southern Water Tribe, both he and Hakoda come to respect Zuko for his kindness, honesty, and bravery. Which is all well and good, until Zuko admits to having feelings for both of them, and they have to decide if they want to pursue a real relationship with Hakoda's young, fake husband.
Also, Zuko's lightningbending may have inadvertently returned the Avatar to the world, too. -

Summary
maybe, if things weren't the way they were, it's something the rich fuckers in charge might've actually seen coming.
but then, if things weren't the way they were, the agni kai wouldn't have happened. if things weren't the way they were, the whole plan wouldn't have been introduced in the first place, and it certainly wouldn't have fallen solely to a thirteen year old boy to decry it.
so maybe, really, this was always going to happen.
(or: that first agni kai has far reaching consequences.)
