Happy stepped in front of Peter, "Are you here on your own accord?" He glanced at Tony with clear distrust, which was slightly fair in all honesty. Peter kept his face bored, raising an eyebrow. Happy faltered for a second before doubling down. "I mean it, I will take you home right now, we can call May." It struck him funny, how no one had any idea how much his world had warped upon itself in such a short time.
How long would it have taken them to notice May had moved, to notice how Peter's world was burning down around him if he didn't fuck up?
"Thanks, dude," the nickname would have gotten a scoff or some light threat in the past, but Happy only watched him. "I can make my own choices, grown man rights and all that. But A for effort, stepping in for the little guy." Peter made his words sharp, clapping sarcastically.
"Peter, I owe you a massive apology, I just need you to-"
"Don't give a flying fuck, keep it." He threw up a peace sign, shoving his hands into his pockets again as he wandered towards Tony, unbothered. Stark was watching him with an expression that told Peter that he didn't recognize him at that moment. But Peter didn't care, they could both eat dirt. He was done with them.

He looks up to see her face go into a state of panic as she looks at him trying to decide how she could possibly answer that.

Peter let his arms fall limply at his side, his fists clenching as he stared blankly at the buttons. His throat tightened again and before he could stop himself, his eyes started to sting.
He can’t cry. Not now.
He clenched his jaw and tried to force the tears back down, but a single one slipped free, tracing a slow path down his cheek before falling to the floor.
He’s got to keep it together. He can’t let Mr Stark see. He’s not a kid. He’s fine. He’s always fine.
“Kiddo…?” Tony asked, his voice laced with concern.
Peter didn’t move. He kept his head bowed, his fists trembling slightly as he willed himself to hold it together.
Or; It's the anniversary of Uncle Ben's death and Peter is having a really bad day. He finally cracks and Tony is there to pick up the pieces.

“Told me what?” Tony asked. There was very little about the Parkers that Tony felt like he didn’t know at this point to the point that he was caught off guard. Sure, certain past things of Peter’s childhood when his parents were still alive were still a mystery but the more recent years were all common knowledge to Tony at this point.
Which is why May’s answer felt like a punch to the gut.
“Today is the anniversary of when Ben died.”

Then, without warning, a train went screeching down the lifted tracks to the left of Peter. His mouth dropped open as it blared its horn and the people inside screaming. Some banged on the windows in a plea for help while others braced themselves for the worst on the handrails.
“Scans complete – there is a runaway train in your vicinity,” Karen reported with a helpful tone.
Like he hadn’t just seen it with his own eyes.

Peter smacked at least four mosquitos that were biting him on the very short trip there, which only proved the man’s point.
Once he was in front of him, he told him to hold his arm up, but hesitated spraying him for a second. “You gonna start breaking out in hives or something if I spray this on you?” Tony inquired, mostly jokingly, as he popped the lid off the bug spray. He waited for a minute, still awaiting the answer to his question.
“I'm fine. It’s bug spray, and I’m not a bug, I’m an arachnid, Mr. Stark.” Peter huffed, still holding the attitude he had from having to get pampered and babied because a few mosquitoes were biting him.
Tony shrugged, gingerly grabbing his arm to spray it on him. “Alright—alright, If you say so, nerd boy.” He said, and then continued on. He didn’t back down on the bug spray, that’s for sure. He pretty much sprayed him head to toe, which he would say is necessary—the mosquitoes are bad out here, okay?—but everyone else would probably say he’s turning soft.
He wasn’t, of course. They’re all crazy.
