Summary
After his mother’s passing and his father’s unreliability, young Eddie Munson finds stability in his Uncle Wayne—a quiet, dependable man who’s determined to do right by his nephew. To ease Eddie’s fears of abandonment, Wayne makes a simple but powerful promise: he will always come home.
But when a delayed trip and cruel words from outsiders shake Eddie’s fragile sense of security, Wayne must find a way to show his nephew that no matter what storms they face, their bond is unbreakable. A story about the weight of small things, the promises we keep, and the family we build.

Summary
The doctors promised he could take as much time as he needed, which was a stupid thing to say considering that there was no such thing as enough time.
He might as well lay down on a slab beside him. Get comfortable in the cold, in the dark. He’d be there forever if they’d let him.

Just an agonizing one-shot of Wayne saying goodbye to his boy.

Summary
Wayne is twenty-two when his number’s called.
Letter in the mail, little black type like ants marching across the white page, that little card. It should’ve been expected: he’s not in college, not doing anything worthwhile, doesn’t even have a high school diploma. He’s a redneck machinist from bumfuck Kentucky just trying to keep his family afloat - he's expendable, top of the list. The kind of guy no one would even miss.
So they call his number and he goes.Or: Wayne's story, before Eddie. And After.

Summary
“I’m not,” he breathes, shaking, “lettin’ those little girls remember me like this.”
Eddie stifles a wail in his fist, and it’s then that Steve crosses the room, that he goes to touch him, to tether them both.
“Eddie,” Wayne breathes. “I need you to take me home. Do you think you can do that for me?”
Eddie meets Wayne’s eyes. Sobs. And nods.

Summary
“It’s me, peasants,” came a voice, and then Eddie Munson was crouching under the windowsill, his hands raised in surrender. “Put down the pitchforks, yeah?”
“No,” said Steve. “No, no, no, no, no.”
“How do we know it’s really you and not some eldritch abomination wearing your skin like a raincoat?” said Robin.
“Ummm…Lonesome Crow, Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Virgin Killer, Taken by Force, Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love at First Sting. Could an Eldritch abomination list every Scorpions record?”
or:Eddie's always been different. It's what makes him excellent. So when he comes back from the Upside Down with some extra freaky powers, Steve only loves him more.
This story is a love letter to Eddie Munson, mostly from the POVs of Wayne and Steve, two of the most important people in Eddie's life.

Summary
Maybe, he thinks, family doesn't have to look like a junkie, jailbird father and an alcoholic, sharp-tongued father and a youngest son determined to follow in his daddy's footsteps and an oldest son who wants to wash his hands of them all. Maybe family can look like a thirty-seven-year-old widower with a back injury and a lifetime of heartache and his twelve-year-old nephew who plays heavy metal music in his bedroom just on the side of too loud and makes a mean grilled cheese.
And maybe, just maybe, if that's what a family looks like. Well, maybe Wayne Munson does do family after all.

Summary
Wayne knew how Eddie acted when he was in love, how kind, and gentle, and nauseatingly romantic he was. His boy was a true romantic at heart, beneath all of the leather and tattoos and long hair, he was candlelight dinners, flowers, surprise gifts, and small tokens of love all of the time. When he was like this, falling in love, Eddie used to sell more so he could take his guy out on a nice date, get some fancy takeout from Enzo’s and drive out to the edge of town to see the stars.
He never did that with Steve.

Summary
What if Eleven had been adopted by the Munson Family instead?
Wayne Munson had always been a fan of taking in strays.
From the cats that hung out under his trailer, to the dogs that ran wild through the neighborhood, to his sweet but unruly nephew, Wayne Munson had always opened his home to those that needed a good meal and a warm place to lay their heads. He’d long since decided that his home was a place that the lost and weary could take shelter from the world, a liminal space meant for rest and recovery. For those like his nephew, who’d never had a father worth writing home about, and for those like the cats, who’d never had a home to speak of, he could offer both.
