“Whatever he has to say can either wait till later,” Lightning began, clearly doing his best to keep the irritation at bay, “or can go into voicemail.”
Doc managed to keep his voice casual despite his almost overwhelming curiosity. “Who is it?”
With a quick flick of the wrist, Lightning threw the phone down the short hall and into the back bedroom.
“Harv,” he explained as he joined the group again. “My agent.”
Barely a week after the tiebreaker race, Lightning is whisked off to do post-season interviews and commercials. When Doc joins him in Florida for a televised interview, he begins to see that perhaps the kid’s agent isn’t as good for him as Lightning might think.

Michael’s eyes widened and the air in his lungs caught halfway down his throat.
The stranger, after completely downing the glass of water, returned their head so that it was once again level with the ground. Sharp blue eyes that sat above a flat, round nose and a dark mustache stared at Patty with a dark expression. One so full of natural malice that Michael nearly thought the stranger was a demon at first, or maybe that was just because of the stranger's naturally squinted, blue eyes against his darker skin complexion.
There was a moment that Michael saw Patty hesitate in his anger confrontation; where his facade of smug bravado faltered under the glare of this dark skinned and narrow eyed newcomer that seemed a lot tougher, rougher, and dangerous then Patty ever was.
"My problem?" The newcomer rasped in a voice that had a timbre laced in that of a high city resident and one that sounded like he had been choking on sand for the past couple of days.
"My problem is that I've been stuck wandering this desert for five days straight and now this glass of water is empty,"

Finn looked at the man in front of him. He was taller, definitely older. The years plastered onto his face. His hair was silver-blue. Navy eyes were trustworthy and patient. Finn, the ever-good agent, thrust his hand out for him to shake. “Finn McMissile. British Intelligence.”
Hudson gave him a weary smile. It wasn’t welcoming, but it wasn’t unkind either. Finn understood why he didn’t shake his hand. “You can call me Doc. There’s no such thing as formality here in this town so you better get used to it.”

In which Mater really wants his two dads (Disclaimer: Not actual dads) to meet and he makes a “foolproof” plan to get them to like each other. Lightning thinks it’s a stupid idea, Sally and Flo are amused and the others watch on quietly as two disasters finally meet.

His mind brought forth the fresh memories of the wreck. Of the green eighty five pit maneuvering the Mark Two, a clear, intentional act of rough housing that could have cost a life. And with the cameras set all around in batches of dozens, even a non-racing fan could see that the action Chick had done wasn’t by mistake at all.
Strip felt his spine go cold and he shivered at the horrible reality.
Chick could have killed Cal.
If anything had gone any differently. The angle of the strike, the impact against the wall, the safety precautions, the amount of smoke, if anything was any different, Cal could be dead.
It was inexcusable, and in a moment of rage his mind pointed the finger of blame at Chick over and over again until his body wasn’t just shaking from the mixed emotion that was the fear of loss and relief, but from anger.
They would have sent Cal off the hospital in a body bag. He wouldn't have made it. A crash like that was so similar to so many others whose careers ended the moment one person decided they didn't want to play friendly anymore.
