It was a deflection as much as Cal’s own statement had been, but he relaxed all the same. Whatever he might know or suspect, the bartender clearly wasn’t angling for a fight. Besides, he supposed he fit the description of ‘paranoid war vet’.
Not that he could tell the man that, of course.

An accident in the field and an unexpected new friend will help answer some of her questions.
This fic is based on the book, Kenobi by John Jackson Miller, and set a short while after the events of the novel. I just recently read A New Dawn and really love his writing style, so I decided to read his other Star Wars books. IMO this book is criminally underrated and if you have the chance I recommend you check it out. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much sense this fic will make if you haven't read the book.
