Laurent D'Vert is a TA for a classical poetry class as he nears the end of his master’s residency. Frustrated with the unsettled feelings in his gut that have plagued him all his life and unable to decide on a topic for his postgraduate studies, he is a little more than surly on the first day of the semester. Ten minutes after class starts, a shockingly gorgeous older student swaggers into the room. A confrontation occurs that leaves him zinging with tension and sparks.
Martial arts athlete and instructor, Damen Diakios, returns to university in pursuit of a higher degree in martial arts education as top-ranking athlete in many traditional sports disciplines. A lifetime of enjoying connections with people yet feeling a longing in his heart has led him to wander and go with life’s flow, indulging his whims in search of something to feel complete within him.
As the two get to know each other, they individually reflect on how the lifetime of blurry snapshot dreams they each have seem to become gradually tangible, visceral memories instead of fleeting glimpses. The dreams begin to depict a past life, where two lovers start on a journey destined for tragedy, forever changing the fate of two countries.

Damen has known since he was a boy that he would one day marry the enemy.
To put an end to the Whispered War, and to take the throne of Akielos as a complete ruler in the eyes of his Kyroi, he will wed the prince of Vere. He's never met Laurent, has no idea of his likes or dislikes or wishes - but it can't be too tragic, can it? They can't be that different, growing up as they both have in royal circumstances with magic at their fingertips. And it's not as though they have to live together for all eternity - they only have to make it through summer, and then Laurent will return to his own country. One season, in exchange for peace.
