Sylvie is a recent university dropout, who won a decent settlement after being wrongfully expelled from the University of Palais, a distant city far from the Ferngill Republic or the Gotoro Empire, and she and her fiancé, an (until recently) tenured professor of evocation, Raziel left and sought a new start. With a substantial part of her settlement, Sylvie purchased, site unseen, a farm on the outskirts of sleepy Pelican Town, where she and the Professor seek to turn over a new leaf, away from the harrowing experience that left her scarred and hopefully away from the sinister presence that has haunted her since she was a child. With the help of three other people seeking a new start, Sylvie hopes to enmesh herself in the culture and community of Pelican Town, and maybe take down a few bad guys while they're at it!
