But survival wasn't the only challenge he faced on Jurassic Park; there was also the waiting. At first, it was exciting - waiting to see the first dinosaur on the tour. After all, he'd waited his entire life to see living dinosaurs. That had been easy; he never really expected to see them.
But he did. And he survived.
So did Ellie, John, Lex and Tim, and even Ian.
But even after leaving the island, Alan found himself waiting. Waiting to find out if the kids would be okay; waiting for Ian to get out of surgery.
Fortunately, Alan was a patient man. He could wait.
