It could have been a play of the light, a reflection, were it not that the windows of the car were streaked with a cobweb of cracks.

He turns to find John looking at him through eyes blurred with pain medication and exhaustion.
“Did the door do something wrong, Harold?” His voice is hoarse and even softer than usual, but still has that lilting satirical note that tells Finch he’s being laughed at. Finch shakes his head, disgusted and bewildered in nearly equal measure.
“A person who’s been through all you have in a single 24-hour period ought not to be able to crack jokes, Mr. Reese,” he says, his voice perhaps sharper than he meant it to be.

In this strange tale, we will witness what would have happened if Carter had never followed John down the stairs and Harold was the one tasked with helping John and saving his life. Mark Snow hunts them down and they end up in a morgue... Where everything shall change.
“Where are we?” John crocked out brokenly, guilt woven in his tone. “In the city Morgue, Mr. Reese.” Harold sounded as wrecked as John himself was feeling. “What an irony… Don’t you think? It’s the right place for me to be. I am a dead man walking after all. A dead man who keeps cheating death. And sooner or later my debt will get paid.” Harold raised an annoyed eyebrow at him. “Is this going somewhere or should I lower your dose of morphine?” John blinked in evident surprise, but relented and forced his mind to clear.
“You do not belong in a morgue Harold. You shouldn’t have come.”
“I once told you, Mr. Reese, that we are both dead in the eyes of the world. So, permit my intervention but I believe this is exactly where I belong. Right here, with you.” -

When he was forced to do so, Finch didn’t just break people, the way Reese did. No, Finch destroyed them, if need be. To protect the things in this life that Finch held dear, he could and would stop at nothing.

Finch felt tears pool in his eyes and forced himself to hold them back. He honestly hoped that was merely an attempt on Mr. Reese's part to keep him safe and that he didn't believe even for a second that Finch would be willing to turn around while the person who had given him hope again was captured or even killed.
