A spark of hope was born within his chest as he saw it was another person, the first thing in a while that broke through the dull numbness that had plagued his life since the day he lost it all.
The man's snow-white hair glittered in the moonlight that surrounded him like a halo within the darkness. But that spark was soon extinguished by a wave of panic and anguish as he registered the gun held between the man's hands. Joel's mouth was so parched, his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth. He didn’t have the energy or the voice to speak. And now, he was going to be shot by a stranger because of it.
The overflowing sorrow gave way to nothing but more numbness as he processed this idea, this fact, accepting his fate. He always thought he’d die from a zombie, or maybe the radiation.
But as he sat there, in the presence of this mysterious man, he realized he felt…content with his story ending this way. He was okay dying this way. It wasn’t quite the happy ever after you see in the fairy tales, but at the very least, maybe he’d be able to see her again.Or;

“It’s okay.” Lizzie said, “what is the idea?” she asked, leaning her head on his shoulder, emotionally exhausted.
“If, when we are 26, ten years from now.” Joel said, stopping to see if Lizzie would say anything before continuing, “if we are both single, we could date each other, so neither of us would be alone.”
The moments of silence almost killed Joel.
Did he just ruin their friendship?
“I like that.” Lizzie said, “if when we are 26, both single, we will date each other.” she repeats.
So an agreement between the two was set.
Only they knew, they both promised to keep it to the two of them, and nobody else.

They're quickly introduced into the concept of the life games, a death game where they have three lives before who knows what comes after. The usual life players find themselves with a colorful group of strangers whom while have fighting experience, are very underexperienced in this place of eye for an eye. While they know the boogieman curse is active, there are other things that should have remained unseen for better or worse.
And just remember. A certain kind of someones are always watching.
(I get writers block very often, so sorry if I don't update too often! Also it may become common that I rewrite things and whatnot, which I will always put updates in notes. Also pay attention to tags, they are likely to change as the fic goes on. :] )
