When Jim Kirk has to go meet with an alien civilization at the insistence of Starfleet Command, he begrudgingly is forced to leave a recovering Spock behind in sickbay. However, the aliens don't seem very interested in discussing things without his "other half," insisting that there is no reason to proceed without Kirk being "fully there."
