Summary
Goro Akechi never imagined that he would live past the age of 12.
Nor did he ever imagine living past 15.
Nor did he ever imagine living long past 18.
And yet on the 4th of February, Goro woke up, breathing and moving, and alive—to his panic and confusion—beyond all odds.
And yet on the 2nd of June, he received a text message from a boy who mourned far more than he should, reminding him of a 19th birthday that was never planned to happen. Never should have happened.
And yet in the following June, a year later, Goro returned to an apartment after a long day of work, only to find a dainty cake sitting atop a kitchen counter, complete with candles and frosting.

Summary
“My trickster.” Her smile is gentle. Akechi doesn’t trust it, but it washes over him regardless.
“I’m not,” Akechi thinks he says. He’s not sure. A haze is pulled over his eyes, over the room, like a grainy filter. When did he get here?
“Not what?”
She’s ethereal. Otherworldly and untouchable, eyes much too kind. Certainly powerful— he feels he knows her, has always known her. It burns and he turns away from it. When he opens his mouth, he is unsure of what he will say. He knows it will not be honest— it is a rejection.
“Not….. that.” She nods, as if it makes sense. His head hurts. “Can you tell me what the fuck you have me here for?”

Goro Akechi is pulled into the Velvet Room and forced to make bonds. He is less than pleased.

Goro laughs. First the sound is harsh and rings in his ears but it quickly gives way to honest giggles bubbling up from his throat.
By Goro’s estimation, Kurusu almost sounds jealous.

He wants Kurusu all for himself. All to himself.
He wants.
In the bathhouse in Yongen-Jaya, Goro Akechi reveals far more of himself to Akira Kurusu than he means to. To his shock, Kurusu doesn't judge him.

Summary
“Look. If you’re so worried about being alone,” Akira says, picking up a dart for himself, “then I have a proposition.”
Akechi cocks an eyebrow at his rival, clearly baffled. Something about the way he said it, about that mischievous glint in those eyes trained on the dartboard, left him with knots in his stomach, every one of his hairs standing on end. Yet, he can’t help but ask, curiosity getting the better of him. “...What kind of proposition?”
Hook, line, and sinker. Akira's got Akechi right where he wants him.
