In 1933, as the Japanese Empire and the United States of America were at war, dark unknown forces would launch an invasion from the world's oceans, thus catching the two belligerent powers off guard. Within the year, both power along with the other great naval powers such as the German Empire, Britain, France, Italy, and the Brazilian Empire all found themselves fighting a losing war against this Abyssal Threat. Just as the Abyssals threaten to bring mankind to it's knees, a new weapon developed by the Japanese see it's combat debut and turn the tide of the conflict into humanity's favor. This weapon, called the Kanmusu or Ship-Girl, were able to at first stem the Abyssal tide, before ultimately defeating them by the end of 1935. For a short time, it was believed that in the face of the Abyssal threat, that any future war between mankind was impossible. But this illusion would be shattered as the Radius Powers of the Confederacy, Britain, France, and Russia, rebuilt their militaries to avenge their defeat in the First Great War. By the end of 1940, the possibility of a new world war, in which the ship-girls of all the major factions were concerned is certain, and their question was, when and where will it start.
