When Arthur buys a new flat, it should mean that everything in his life is slotting into place. Instead, he can’t stop going on bad dates, his sister won’t get off his back about mental health, and the cupboard doors keep mysteriously falling open.
When the ghost who haunts the flat reveals himself, Arthur decides to help him finish whatever unresolved business he has that’s keeping him from properly passing on. Once Arthur gets rid of this ghostly Merlin figure, he can go back to getting his own life in order.
Of course Merlin has a poor memory, and as Arthur tries to dig into Merlin’s life, he gets used to having a ghost around his home.

He’s not sure when his life became so entwined with Merlin’s. Perhaps it was that first day on the train, seeing that pale-faced little boy by the sweets trolley. Their first potions lesson together, their fight in the Great Hall, when that Griffin was rampaging in the forest.
He hadn’t known then; you don’t see someone’s face for the first time and think ‘one day I will not be able to live without you.’
But Arthur thinks it now. He’s been thinking it for quite some time.
Arthur and Merlin have always been joined at the hip, despite the fractious start to their friendship. Arthur's not sure when it became something more, or if it's always been there. But when he heads to Merlin's for Christmas, it becomes too huge to deal with - Gwaine's new interest in Merlin, Morgana's strange distance and the odd whisper that calls to Arthur in the middle of the night...

Summary
Merlin has a good life. He sleeps in the royal bed, sits on the king's right, uses magic out in the open, free and never again hidden.
He likes the first bit, is tired of the second, and is still awed by the last.
When he first told Arthur, he hadn't expected them to work together to destroy the destinies that had been written since the dawn of time; he hadn't thought that they would be able to change their path so drastically that everything would be different.
He hadn't even realised it, when all had been said and done. He'd only learned the truth of what they had done when he had gone to the Crystal Caves and they had shown him what his life could have been.
He'd thought they were safe from it; the cruel fate that had awaited them was averted.
Only, not everyone was happy with that.

When Arthur went back to his hometown to find his missing sister, he wasn’t sure what he would find. He simply hoped that there would be some clue that would lead him to her. A clue, he did find, but instead of pointing him in a direction, it led to him being knocked out and waking up in a different world, one with magic.
Taken, rescued, and now staying in a refugee sanctuary, Arthur was now not just searching for his sister but also the figure known in history and legend as the Once and Future King. As he works as an assistant to a sorcerer named Merlin, befriends a group of knights, and is accompanied with his childhood figurine turned living chough, Arthur starts to question if he would want to go home after all of this is over. Of course, that is only if the others and him can survive the prophecy, the return of the ancient evil known as the Ivory, and if Emrys can fulfill his part by finding the Once and Future King. -

Merlin cannot remember Arthur’s face, no matter how hard he tries. It’s simply been too long, and the world has changed too much, and Merlin has changed, too.He happens across a psychic who shows him a vision, and he can very nearly almost see Arthur’s face, but not quite. When the vision ends, Merlin thinks that’s as close as he’ll ever get. Then, while making lunch, he suddenly finds himself somewhere impossible, somewhere that doesn’t exist anymore, sometime that doesn’t exist anymore.
But that vision doesn’t last long, either. Until Merlin finds himself back in Camelot again. And again.

Emrys Dragongreat is an old man who has been alone for a very long time, and he likes it that way.
Arthur Goldraig is an abandoned boy barely thirteen years of age who is just desperately trying to survive on the streets.
When the two meet, it is by accident, late on a cold winter evening. For Emrys, it is a regular Tuesday. For Arthur, it is anything but.
Their meeting is brief and seemingly insignificant, but there’s something about Arthur that makes Emrys find him again and offer to take him in.
The arrangement shouldn't change either of their lives, and Arthur doesn't expect it to. But as time passes, things change. And before either of them know it, they both find in the other what they never thought to have again.
