Jeremy Heere is a 25-year-old man who just spent his inheritance on his father's joke/gift shop in New Jersey, which is managed by his childhood best friend, Christine Canigula, due to his lack of business sense.
He tends to find social situations awkward, especially around men. He is a constant disappointment to his SQUIP, who is desperate for him to get a proper job and a husband. The restaurant next door is run by Rich Goranski, who also works as a waiter. He has employed a chef - Michael Mell, a university friend whom Jeremy fancies.
It doesn't matter what Jeremy attempts in life, whether it's dating or simply dealing with his overbearing SQUIP, he always seems to fall flat - quite literally.

Although Micheal goes through a more rough patch, Jeremy is starting to find himself hearing voices and glimpse of Micheal. All of course, being figments of his imagination. Jeremy finds himself questioning his decisions, if marrying Christine was the right choice. Although she’s been nothing but helpful. Jeremy seems to spiraling out of control. Feeding the thoughts with more negativity.
Micheal hasn’t been doing well. His office job taking up every opportunity and plan he has. His own mental health dragging him down from accomplishing anything else. He can’t help but hear the 16 year old version of Jeremy taking form as a voice in his head. Micheal couldn't help but be reminded of the lack of intimacy in his life. At 24 years old, he had experienced little to no romantic relationships, leaving him feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around him. The silence echoed with a sense of loneliness, emphasizing the void that seemed to exist. His 16 year old self with live rent free within him for years on end.
