Izuku is quirkless. His father disappeared after 2 years of abusing Inko and Izuku. He is severely bullied and only chooses to stay alive for his mother. She doesn't get much money due to her son being quirkless, so she spends most of her time working to provide for herself and her son. She has one day off a month that she spends with her son. She loves him no matter what. The day he gets attacked goes differently. He finds his mothers dead body and runs to find help. He is attacked by the sludge villain and gets free by taking one of its eyes. All Might helps his mother, but when Izuku asked if he could be a hero, he told him no. With his mother gone and no hope of ever being a hero, he jumps off a tall, abandoned building in the area Eraserhead patrols. Aizawa takes him to Recovery Girl, knowing that hospitals won't do anything to help the kid. Izuku survives and with Aizawa's help, he starts training at UA to be a pro hero.

Or the year before that. By all rights he should be dead by now. So when after years of surviving he gets into UA by clawing his way through metal and impossibilities, he will give everything he has to give everyone even the slightest chance to learn to live too, because oh it is a beautiful thing. Living is looking at the stars and breathing cool night air, knowing that you deserve it because everyone deserves it. He believes there are no exceptions to who deserves to be saved, so he learns that he is not an exception either.
When he is put in the position where living is impossible but death is taken away, he puts everything he has towards ensuring the survival of those who taught him the difference between living and surviving. -

On the current day, it ought to be by comparing the period before and after the first appearance of the quirk factor. Thanks to such a phenomenon, we, the human race, saw the rise of figures such as All For One, the greatest villain to have ever been born; we also saw the rise of the greatest heroes, such as All Might, Endeavor or Nana Shimura decades before the former two.
But it is because of that, sadly, that we are never a species that finds itself safe. Great heroes fight to secure our safety, but great villains seek to eliminate that very thing for self-indulgent, egotistic, and unsavory reasons; we ought to ensure their wishes never become a truth, for as long as Hero Society exists, that will never occur.
