For longer than he can remember, there's been a secret relationship with Crowley. But if he can't see it, then it can't be real, can it? So long as he pretends he's dreaming, it'll all be just fine.
This fic does reference use of BSL/deafblind manual alphabet. Neither ineffable is deaf or blind, but alternative forms of communication are important to them, for reasons which will become apparent. They also use custom signals of their own that do not correlate to BSL signs, and likely predate them by centuries. You don't need to know any of them for the fic however, all are written in plain English.

Summary
This classic story from 2008 is by the fandom's best writer -- L.M. Lewis. I have her permission to post it here and invite all of you to enjoy it all over again.
The Episode "Black Widow" first aired in October of 1983. In it, the judge and Mark investigate the attractive but shady Tina Gray, who is frequently associated with soon-to-be-dead mobsters. Mark throws himself into his work, romancing Ms. Gray and coming to her rescue when she is threatened by her current boyfriend, mobster Joe Beiber. He doesn't realize she's setting him up. While Beiber goes after Mark, Hardcastle figures out that Tina actually works for a crooked police captain, Don Filapiano. Mark and Tina are kidnapped and taken to the desert by Beiber's goons, to be executed and buried. Hardcastle, who confronts Filapiano and discovers that Mark had been set up, shakes down one of Beiber's other employees, gets the details of the plan, and arrives in the absolute nick of time.
But just ten minutes later and things might have been completely different . . .

Shijima filled in the space around them with greenery, penciling in the furrows of crops and the vague outlines of the maple trees in the background. She’s standing under one now, its leaves burning red-gold in the afterglow of the sunset. The juxtaposition of it all—of the deer and the brown sky and the dead leaves at her feet—makes her think of life and death and the boundary that blurs the line between them. Autumn, and October especially, have always felt transitional like that, even when Mei was alive.
