Summary
You’re not supposed to have favourites within a family, it was almost one of the laws of the universe, but Lance could easily say that, without a doubt, Adam was his favourite brother in the world, in the entire universe, before the new space family he made during his time with Voltron, before any other member of his blood family who were left behind in Cuba.
Adam helped him to discover the stars, discover his dreams of deep space travel, discover who he was, even if it took some time. He helped him realise that not everyone is right, that sometimes family isn’t right, that sometimes even brothers, who come before anyone else in the world, anyone else in the universe, are not right. He was there for him when nobody else could be, until he ran away and left Lance all alone.
So, yeah, Adam came before anyone else in Lance’s eyes, even if he was an asshole.

Summary
“I bet you can’t wait to see your family,” Keith muttered to him, a smile on his face while the pair of them half listen to the others explain some Earth culture to those who don’t know it. Lance hummed in agreement, leaning against Keith’s shoulder as Matt started to explain some obscure cultural reference, causing Romelle to frown deeply and look too much into it, and her asking Matt and Hunk to verify Santa Clause when they got to Earth was funny enough to make him to want to start crying fully, because it reminds him of his oldest cousin Rachel’s first born, who refused to believe in anything until she got proof once she was able to ask for the proof of its existence.
“They’re going to kill me,” Lance replied thickly, ending it with a short laugh, and Keith only gripped his hand tighter in reply, a smile playing on his lips.
On their way home, they bump into a little bit of trouble. Lucky for Votron and crew, Lance knows exactly what to do.

Summary
“I’m sorry for your-” Shiro’s words were interrupted when Lance launched himself forward and attached him to his midsection tight, and began to sob into his chest, letting all the pain go, and the surprise was evident on Shiro’s face, his eyes open in shock at Lance’s actions and he took at second before returning Lance’s hug.
“You don’t have to be sorry, you idiot,” Lance muttered thickly when his first round of tears had subsided, “He loved you just as much as he loved me, just in a different way. It’s your loss just as much as it’s my own.”
They come back home, and instead of the warm welcome that they expect, they are greeted with the news that opens a door of grief.

Summary
Adam was not afraid to say that he was a romance at heart. He knew he was easy to swoon, he knew that, once the right man caught his eyes and he caught theirs, they would be set for life like a ‘happy ever after’s that he had read to Lance when he was young. So, when Shiro looked him dead in his eyes, a week before he had to go back to his homophobic family for what he hoped would be the last summer and said that they were going on a date the day before he left, his heart almost exploded.
After that, it was almost a fairy tale, they went on cute and funny dates, they got engaged in a beautiful and spectacular way, they even adopted a kid (though he was pretty sure that Keith was an alien rather than a human child). Next on the list was a long and happy marriage, next was getting that happy ever after that he craved since he was young.
And then he and Shiro broke up.
And then Keith ran away.
And then his little brother disappeared one night with two other cadets, never to be seen again, and he realized how much he had truly missed wearing the red tinted glasses of love.
