Anime: Project ARMS

Im not teilling much about the Story itself.Im more rating the twist and the deepness of the story.

But i will start with the Animation.

Animation:

Well i think here the serie is not very stable.In some scenes the drawings are realy good and in some there are close to horrible.

In the beginning the drawings are quite good and in some way inpressive but (i think due the budget) it changes in some party of the serie.Like when they are fighting unimportant dudes the animations are not even "standart" but when it comes to the main events there realy good and it let you realy enjoy the Fights and the Transformations.

In some parts the Characters lag dtails but as for the fighting scenes when its a main event in the story it gets detailed and well drawn.

Sound:

Nothing important to mention, it plays in the background and fit the most scenes well.Not my favorite but not bad either

Story:

To make it short the main chars are Clones with weapons implanted when they were born.The people who "developed" them make a run and gave them to adopt Parents.As the thing comes on someday these weapons starts to activate and so the story about who they are and were they come from starts.(As i say in the Beginning its a REAL short version)

In the end Story was good has real cool changes

Character:
The character are evolving during the series and I liked the main char(later hes very desprate) and the evil weapon Jabberwook inside him.

since there are a few other characters everybody can pick there Favorite Char.

Value:

I dont think that i will watch it again but i dont watch Animes more than ( just a few).But i liked it and now i began to watch the sequel.

After the Preview above mine i was realy realy unsure about watching this Anime but i liked this one.

Enjoyment:

As said before i realy enjoyed this Anime its defently not the best Anime out there with action as main goal but if you have seen a lot anime and dont know what you should watch take this one.

I have seen the same version as the dude above me and yes the release is Horrible when it comes to subs but that does not belong to review of the anime

Interesting concept fades due to bad dialogues and horrible English DVD subtitles.

First off, I read the first volume of the manga before watching this anime, so I kind of knew what the series was about and I started watching it. Unfortunately the series wasn't anything I had imagined, with the English DVD subtitles being the worst part of it all. Have you seen how it's been produced in combination with Westwood Studios? Those are well known for their Command & Conquer-games, but anime? Not really.
So, let's begin ...

Animation[/u]: Average, with a lot of 'atmosphere' animation.

"What the hell is atmosphere animation?", I hear you think. Well, I used that term to describe how they resort to single/double colored whenever something shocking happens, or when the part of the story rises to certain heights that it should be utterly exciting. It emphasizes how the feelings of the characters are and they use it in a good way. Usually this doesn't work, but there are a few rare occasions where it actually works and Project ARMS is one of them.
That, or the fact that the story is so bad that I had to notice the animation in order to appreciate anything of it.
The rest of the animation is just pretty average. Couple of reused frames, couple of standard actions and all, but the atmospheric coloring is what does the trick in getting a higher mark for the animation.

Sound[/u]: Below average voices, really bad dialogues.

Music
Let's start with the music. The OP-song is quite nice, although not awardwinning. A nice rough song which is a nice song by itself but also suits the anime as well. The ED on the other hand is a bit less good, but also fits the series. The music throughout the series is either average or not noticeable, so I can't say much about that.
But while I can't say any bad things about the music, the rest is a lot worse.

Voiceacting
The voiceacting in this series is definitely below par. The voice of the main character isn't anything special and his screams are just comparable to an English dub-actor, so you can imagine that it's nothing to be proud of. But that's just one character. Most of the other characters are quite similar, if not worse. So a double minus for the voiceacting.

Story: Interesting concept, but gets boring real quick.

The story starts indeed with an interesting concept, where the main character has the 'ARMS' implanted in his body (well, call it a spoiler, but it will be in the first sentence of the back of the DVD when you read the description). But as soon as we know that, the story resorts to continuous fighting, lousy plot twists, seemingly character development and newly introduced characters which are either uber-enemies or uber-friends.
They flood the series with characters who either play the ultimate bad guy to kill him (only to show later that there is another ultimate bad guy who sent them) or play the ultimate good friend who will do everything to save him (after the usual miscommunication, of course, we have to keep it an action anime after all).

Storywise this series could have featured both Sylvester Stallone as the main character and Sylvester Stallone (with a bad day) as the big bad guy. Doesn't sound appealing? That's exactly how this series plays.
While they do their best to put a lot of intriguing plot twists, tragedy and a lot of conspiraties in the story, it doesn't save the series; in fact, it makes it so complicated that the action-lovers might find themselves hopelessly lost in the story while the story-based watchers raise their eyebrows in an attempt to understand what the hell the creators were smoking. Don't think it's too complicated, since it isn't. It's just chaotic and it somehow feels like the creators just didn't know what to do in order to keep the story running. That's all there is about it; the story just keeps on running on conspiracies which are there just to be cool and to make the characters look cool. And they might have been actually cool if it wasn't for the hideous subtitles they added to the DVD as translations.

Dialogues & subtitles
The dialogues and the DVD subtitles are probably what's the worst part of this entire series.
While the Japanese dialogues aren't that great already, the DVD subs make complete trash of it.
The subtitles are freely translated, so that anything they say is translated in American language and then added slang to it (which feels completely off in this series, or any series at all, even American cartoons).
They also add italics to the subs, which should be to emphasize the words in the sentences, but it looks like our dear Wanda (or Wendy) Lee from Viz who provided the English translated script doesn't quite understand the meaning of italic text, or perhaps the entire idea of emphasizing words in a sentence yet. The result is that there are random words picked out and made italic. Usually words which shouldn't be emphasized, like "I have never done that to you!" where every damn word could have been emphasized in order to make a proper suitable sentence for the scene, except for the word they actually emphasized.
This made me wonder why Viz has never been completely out of business when they released this - or why Wanda/Wendy Lee hasn't been fired ever since - unless she's the only one at Viz who is actually able to translate/edit.

Characters

While one thinks it couldn't get worse due to the story and the terrible subtitles they delivered with the DVD, the characters add a little more to the patheticness level of this series.
Most of the characters are just plain flat, annoying or just 'looking cool'. The best example would probably be the twins, who are geniuses, but can only brag while not doing anything geniuslike. Another character is a wicked, sick powerhungry madman with a strong personality, but once that person gets beaten, that person becomes a spineless wuss. Talking about consistency, sigh.
But while one can live with a few of those, nearly all of the characters have such serious flaws that it becomes seriously annoying to watch.

Value & Enjoyment
Since this series doesn't really have a story which is interesting enough to rewatch, nor has it any value due to the horrible DVDsubs and the pathetic dialogues, I don't think it has any value. Still, people who like action might like this after all and for the action and *cough*suspense*cough* it can be worth watching after all. So I'm keeping the score a big higher than I would do for myself.

I have to give it to them, they have produced an anime which I really didn't like.
