National Sailing Hall of Fame

국립 범선 명예의 전당(NSHOF)은 범선에 기여한 개인들을 인정하고 미국 문화에 대한 범선의 공헌을 부각시키며 수학과 과학을 가르치는 실질적인 도구로서의 가치를 입증함으로써 범선과 경주를 장려하는 비영리 교육 단체다. 이 단체는 2005년에 설립되었다.[1]

NSHOF는 원래 메릴랜드 주 아나폴리스의 시티 독에 위치한 선장 버티스 하우스에 수용되었다.[2] 이곳을 찾은 방문객들은 물 위에서 체험하는 체험에 참여할 수 있고 항해사, 미술, 전설에 대해 배울 수 있다.[3]

2019년 5월 1일, NSHOF가 아나폴리스에서 로드아일랜드 뉴포트로 이전한다고 발표되었다.[4][5] 같은 해, NSHOF는 미국의 컵 레이스와 연결된 역사적인 건물인 뉴포트의 무기고 건물을 구입했다. 이 공간은 헤르레스호프 박물관, 미국의 컵 명예의 전당과 협력하여 전시 공간으로 발전되고 있다.[6][7] 새 박물관은 2022년에 개관할 예정이며, 항해 박물관으로 불릴 것이다.

거스 칼슨은 게리 잡슨의 뒤를 이어 2019년 이사회 의장이 됐다.[8] 2019년 4월 15일 발효된 헤더 루삼은 이 단체의 전무이사가 되었고, 그녀는 곧 열릴 요트 박물관의 전무이사를 겸하고 있다.[9][10]

국립 요트 명예의 전당은 2011년에 명예로운 사람들을 기리기 시작했다.[11] 2020년 6월 현재 88명이 명예의 전당에 선출되었다.[12]

NSHOF에 대한 지명은 온라인으로 이루어진다. 지명 위원회는 제출된 모든 지명을 평가한다.[13] 전형적으로 인덕티즈는 여름에 발표되며, 인덕티 시상식은 미국 전역의 다른 장소에서 가을에 열린다. 인도는 2011년에 시작되었다.[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] 2020년 유도식은 코로나바이러스 대유행으로 2020년 9월 사실상 열렸다.[12]
