Lil Uzi Vert Prepped For the Met Gala By Heading to the Diamond District
Released on 09/16/2021
What's poppin'?
It's Lil Uzi Vert.
We are going to the Met Gala today.
[upbeat hip hop]
The reason I wanted to go to the Met Gala
is cause clothes, bro.
I got all the clothes.
I'm really not a fashionable dude,
I just have all the clothes. There's a difference.
The way I pick my fit out every day is,
I just reach and grab and put anything on.
Course I'm going to put the best anything,
but I'll put anything on.
Like it really don't matter to me.
Seriously.
Growing up in Philly is definitely like an
urban mix, you know.
I understand that you probably thought I was from Atlanta.
It was some people that thought I was from like, LA,
just naming big spots.
I get it because Philadelphia isn't too accepting and into
like new stuff because you know,
one thing I can say is
we a little bit, like, we'd be on it,
but we a little bit slower when it comes to like, you know,
fashion and like, we're not on point. I'm from Philly,
like I was that way for years. Like we not on point.
It didn't take long for them to accept me in Philly,
which was a good thing, which made it like you know,
Which made everything go.
Cause it was like, it was totally different.
Like I'm walking around with like pink braids and stuff.
And I'm literally in these places like, and I don't know,
just was rocking with it. Cause I was there every day.
I had nowhere else to go. So what I'm gonna do,
like cut my hair?
So where are we going right now?
Diamond district.
What's in the diamond district?
Diamonds. [laughs]
[upbeat hip-hop]
Yeah, it's gonna be lit, right? We gonna be up there
We gonna be lit, I'm telling you.
Damn, somebody got them wigs out.
Get them wigs.
They got them wigs, huh?
[upbeat hip hop]
We at Eliantte.
This is the top floor suite
just looking at some jewelry.
I don't even want to hold it.
That's when you know it's cray.
We paid for it and he didn't want to hold it.
Look, he's so shy.
He's talking about tell him the process. I told him,
If I'm going to tell him the process.
I need to own about 5% of this place. That's all I need.
But no, everything's a process.
Like I don't know, we was talking about it for years
like it was getting worked on for years, like years, like
before I even had...seven songs.
So it's just like finally happened, man.
Oh yeah. Shout out to Grimes.
Elon Musk.
But I don't know, I don't want to tell them my business.
Anyway, yeah, so I'm gonna go change my clothes, you know
Put it on.
While I got time, that idea of me being, you know
represent Thom Browne tonight at the Met Gala,
he hit up Kelly and the gang and they
let me know what was going on.
And I was like, yeah.
And everything Thom designed.
Wow.
I guess everything is going to be great, but I don't know.
But I know everything he designed for me is over the top.
Like it's fire.
Let's see.
What's up, Uzi?
Hi.
[crowd yelling]
I'm gonna get dressed.
So for the bow tie, I know you wanted it tacked down.
We can do that for you.
We'll just do it as soon as you put the jacket on.
Cool
So its like perfect.
Cool
Exactly.
And then we got your moon boots, mask just in case, pocket
square, socks. And you know, you got your partner up here.
Yes sir
All right, come on. I need your help.
Are you ready?
Yeah
Let's do it.
Let's start with the socks. You want to take your shoes off?
Can you just walk us through what's happening
right now with you?
I'm getting naked.
[slow atmospheric hip hop]
[crowd screaming]
You think like a person like me I'd have so much to say.
And I really don't.
It's hard to know what to say in front of people,
opposed to knowing what to say in studio, in the
booth when it's dark.
Thanks for spending the day with us fools, good night
you already know, Lil Uzi Vert, Met Gala
they done let me in the building
they should never let me in the building.
They done let me in the building. Now I'm in here
with the big E right here. You already know.
It is. I know what it is, man. So yeah
That's my boy MK, in the cut
[All] Ay!
