Yes, I saw these tweets when they were first posted.

I don't know about their tumblr page but on Twitter they went on a long rant (20+ posts) explaining the reasoning behind the comment and apologizing for the "poor" joke, so take that as you will.

I honestly don't know what's worse, giving interviews to a shady gambling website or openly stating that you have preferences when it comes to which driver and team will win the championship.

That's something definitely but I also think it's just him and his personality. We're talking about a very, very, very insecure man, who doesn't like to ever be criticized or questioned. His interviews, statements always boil down to just him lashing out at what is being said about him, like another person in power we all know too well. The fact he referrs to himself as a "racing driver" even though his only career highlight is him crashing on his own before he even made it to T1, tells you all you need to know about him.

He didn't like that the drivers collectively stood up to him with that letter and publicly embarrassed him so now he is lashing out, putting them in their place by essentially telling them "I'm the boss here and if you don't follow my rules I can make your life in Formula 1 very difficult".
