I'm going to lay out the Detlaff's bio in chunks because I want to illustrate him at different times in his life.
Detlaff 12 years old.
Detlaff is the illegitimate son of a human knight and a high elf. His mother left him in the care of his father after his birth. He recognized him only as a foundling, and forced Detlaff to hide his ears behind his hair. His father raised him strictly but fairly and called him his son. Detlaff is the second son of a paladin knight who worships the God Tyr. His father rose to the rank of nobility, though to the lowest stratum. Detlaff was a restless man who constantly itched to steal something expensive or shiny. Because of Tyr's teachings, Detlaff suppressed his dark urges lol (although he particularly disliked being such a proper boy and considered many of the teachings to be nonsense). But when Detlaff turned 14, magic suddenly awoke in him (passed down to him from his mother), and then he decided to go in search of his mother.
